Good Bye Corporate World - Week 5 I have survived

 Week 5

I have Survived

So I thought I was going to get an early night before the BIG exam....no chance, my partner took my Son out for a few beers and came home so drunk that, he thought it was really important to wake me up to tell me he was getting into bed quietly so that he didn't wake me up!  I left the house 2 hours before I was due at the exam venue, thank goodness I did as I was sat at the Dartford Tunnel for 45 minutes as there had been an accident.  People laugh at my cautious Capricorn tendencies but today, this was a triumph for the goats.

Whilst sitting in the traffic, I went through all the great exam advice I had been given.  Don't let the questions confuse you by overthinking the answers.   Answer the ones you’re fairly confident of to begin with as this will improve your confidence. Then with the harder ones they usually follow the same principle.  Read the questions carefully as many of them are written to test your understanding. Most of all, relax & take your time.  Deep breaths, the exam appears harder than it really is, concentrate on wording of questions, most suitable, least suitable etc. Read questions twice.

Great now through the traffic and finally in Barking, found the venue easily but couldn't find anywhere to park for 2 hours.  Wait did I see a Tool Station?  Yes, they have a car park, I will leave it there, surly the car will be safe!  Having been told to arrive 30 mins before the exam started I was pretty fed up that the invigilator arrived 10 minutes late, this is not doing my nerves any good at all.  He wasn't the most helpful of chaps, wouldn't let me take my 99p non scientific calculator or my pen in and then had to rummage around for paper for my calculations and gave me a chewed up pencil.

I've pressed start my exam.....and breath, and relax, don't panic, read the questions twice.  Well it wasn't too bad at all, think I was lucky and got the easy questions, or did I actually know the answers?  You start second guessing yourself especially as I had finished 70 questions in 45 minutes.  I checked my answers and stopped myself from changing lots of answers through self doubt.  OK I couldn't put off the inevitable I need to press submit.  This is incredibly childish but I pressed submit and closed my eyes......deep breath, congratulations you have passed.  Happy Days, I couldn't stop grinning, I'd even forgiven the late invigilator.  I even didn't mind when I found out that I had got a £100 parking fine for the pleasure of of parking in tool station, I had passed and that's all that mattered.

Its been great sharing this part of my journey with so many people.  My blogs will now take a different thread as I set up my own business and really start to learn how to put in to practice everything I have learnt.  I will share some of the things that have surprised me about Equity Release, hopefully try to dispel outdated fears and educate how modern Equity Release is helping so many people.
